I'm going to tell you a story about my Dad and his pet fox. It's a small plastic toy fox, made by the German toy maker, Schleich.

The name of the fox is Maurice. It is pronounced like the car manufacturer, not (as I had originally surmised) in the French style.

This is despite the fact that Maurice's personality veers towards the flamboyant and he appreciates the finer things in life.

He has his own Facebook: https://t.co/5q2WlTVNca As you will see from the number of photos he is a prolific traveller and bon vivant.

He was recently taken to Wales by his owners for a weekend's holiday, which involved hill-walking. Unfortunately, the group became separated

But today news has arrived of a miraculous rescue. The hotel in which my Dad was staying has sent an urgent message. Maurice has been found.

This is the message that the Tyn-y-Coed Hotel sent my Dad. You probably thought I was making this up: https://t.co/GVLs6Gu5S6

To recap: a Welsh hotel has been searching high and low for a plastic toy fox owned by a 50-something Englishman, and has found it.
